It was a powerful week in Pearl last week! At least 245 were attendance during the annual Pearl Church of Christ Vacation Bible School! This event has been a tradition from around the last of May into the first of June since 1991, and the overall attendance since that time is 3,472!

If you get a chance, go to the Pearl Church of Christ Facebook page to view the pictures of happy children and adults alike! We now have children of children who attended way back when!! The attendees got to make Dead Fish T-shirts with “real-live dead fish!!” They also received a camo T-shirt that says, “Character is Everything,” which is dedicated to Brother Roy Harris.

Brother Harris actually got to attend one of the five days for which we are so grateful that he felt like doing so!! He surely does a powerful prayer!! The older kiddos watched scenes from “The Chosen,” burned their fears, and got to place flags on the graves of veterans in the Pearl Cemetery. Those are just a few of the activities that they enjoyed. Thanks to Dalton Paul, the praise music was spectacular!! Dalton plays guitar and sings like an angel!! The kids love him!! Thank you, Dalton, for sharing your time and talent with these precious kiddoes!!

There were two baptisms during the week, and we praise God for those new sisters in Christ!! The church wishes to thank everyone involved in VBS. The workers, parents, grandparents, visitors, the kitchen crew — everyone is so very appreciated and dearly loved!! On the last day, the kids requested a one-day VBS before school starts. Our excited but exhausted adults will keep us posted because they said “YES!”

Trent Ray had a very successful day on Saturday, June 3rd, at the Reisel Track event. Trent is participating in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation in discus and shot put. Trent won first place in discus and took second place in shot put!! Congratulations to Trent!!

It was also a great day to be in Pearl on June 3 during the monthly Bluegrass and Pearl Cottage Bookstore events. So that you can mark your calendars to be sure and not miss the days to come to Pearl, here are the remaining dates for 2023: July 1, Aug. 5, (second Saturday in September) Sept. 9, Oct. 7, Nov. 4, and Dec. 2.

This week’s Bible verse comes from I Peter 3:9: “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” — NIV
