The Pearl Community sends its prayers and condolences to the families of Henry Oney and Sandy Graham. Mr. Oney was born in Pearl to Omie and Lottie Walker Oney and attended school in Evant.

After his graduation, he served in the Army and later worked for the Duroc Ranch as manager and the City of Evant Water Department. Mr. Graham was the son of Harold Edwin and Dorothy Mae Ayers Graham and grew up in Gatesville. He worked for Walmart and TDCJ before retirement. Mr. Graham’s private service will be at the Pearl Cemetery at a later date.

Mark your calendars to be sure and not miss the days to come to Pearl for a great experience in entertainment and shopping! Here are the remaining dates for 2023: July 1, August 5, (2nd Saturday in September) September 9, October 7, November 4, and December 2.

Last Friday, I was fortunate to be able to go to one of the several beautiful parks in Nacogdoches, Texas to listen to some great Bluegrass music! I was accompanied by my son, daughter-in-love, and granddaughter as we experienced the sounds of the Gent Mountain Grassburs, The Blake Brothers Bluegrass Band, The Purple Hulls, and The Little Roy and Lizzy Show. They were all fabulous, and I can highly recommend seeing any of these performers if you get the chance! The next day, we went to the Blueberry Festival in historic downtown Nacogdoches. That’s another event I recommend as the booths and food trucks offered an eclectic selection of all sorts of goodies! The only drawback was that it was exceptionally hot and humid during the Saturday morning activities, and we soon knew what was up-- we had a series of thunderstorms roll through the area Saturday afternoon that lasted into the night! I am hoping Pearl got some rain, too, as I hear that drought conditions still exist around there. I’ll try and send some rain your way…. via prayer!!

This week’s Bible verse comes from John 15:7—If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. NIV
