The Oglesby Junior High Tigers defeated the Cransfill Gap Lions 21-13 on Thursday, Oct. 17, at home, which brings the Tigers record in district to 2-0.
The Tigers started off the scoring on a 45-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Caiden Brinkley, and Brody Martinez added the point-after-touchdown (PAT), making the score 7-0, Oglesby. Brinkley also added the next touchdown on defense, picking up a fumble and racing 40 yards to the end zone for touchdown number two. Liam Standridge added a PAT, making the score 14-7, Oglesby. Hunter Insall hit Brody Martinez on a five-yard touchdown pass, and Martinez added the PAT making the final score Oglesby, 21 and Cransfill Gap, 13.
Offensively for the Tigers
Caiden Brinkley had one 45-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, as well as one scoop and scored a fumble return for a touchdown. This made Brinkley’s total for the night 85 yards total offense and two touchdowns.
Brody Martinez had one touchdown pass of five yards and two PATs with 58 total yards.
Hunter Insall was 1/1 in passing and scored one touchdown.
Liam Standridge had 43 yards rushing and scored one PAT.
Defensively for the Tigers
Caiden Brinkley had 11 tackles, one fumble scoop, and a score for a touchdown.
Rancher Jeffcoat had six tackles and one fumble recovery.
Liam Standridge had three tackles and one fumble recovery.
AJ Mafra had three tackles.
Brody Martinez had two tackles.
Hunter Insall had two tackles.
