Businesses and governmental offices across Coryell County will join the rest of the nation on Monday, Sept. 2 in celebrating Labor Day.
Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and became a federal holiday in 1894.
The holiday also became synonymous with the end of summer.
Closings in the immediate area include:
GOVERNMENT
The City of Gatesville, City of Oglesby, City of Evant, the Coryell County Courthouse, and the Farm Service Agency will be closed on Monday.
SCHOOLS
No local schools will hold classes, and administrations offices will be closed on Monday. The Boys and Girls Club of Gatesville will be closed as well.
FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
Extraco Bank, Cadence, Educators Credit Union, The First National Bank of Gatesville, The First National Bank of Evant, and The First National Bankw will be closed on Monday.
POST OFFICES
All local post offices will be closed on Monday.
LIBRARY
The Gatesville Public Library will be closed on Monday.
NEWSPAPER
The Gatesville Messenger will be closed on Monday.
