Mound News

A lot going on here

Posted

Mound lost one of its longtime residents, Mrs. Margaret Pearl Winters, who died Saturday Jan. 18.  Mrs. Winters was the sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Harris of Mound. Margaret will truly be missed in our community.

Bobby and Nelda Carothers are the proud grandparents of Miss McCall Rae Carothers born Jan. 14 - a few weeks early but doing fine.

Valerie Ferrell and Carolyn Blakley had lunch together in Gatesville on Friday.

Emma Blakley went to Montgomery Sunday and spent time with Reed and Katelyn Griffith.

Mike and Donna Schultz were Sunday lunch guests of Ray and John Stephens.

Katie Sue Hopson took second chair in Soprano. Paisley Wells took second chair in Tenor. Memphis Wells took third chair in Bass. This choir is the highest accomplishment a high school student can achieve in the world of choir, and these three have put countless hours and months into preparing and auditioning. We are beyond proud of them! Since Katie started choir as a freshman, her goal has been to make all state choir and yesterday she achieved that.

The last few days have been a whirlwind for Kinsley Elizabeth McPherson and her 4-H teammates. After the cattle show wrapped up the Corell County Youth Fair (CCYF) for these kiddos, Kelli drove our Senior Livestock Quizbowl team to Huntsville where they finished second (by 1 point) to the always competitive Washington County team.

Saturday, our senior horse judging team competed in the Brazos County show where they finished fifth overall,  and Kinsley had a personal best show, placing top 10 in every category and finishing fifth High Individual overall.

So proud of their growth this year and can’t wait to watch them continue to sharpen their skills and chase their goals.

Happy Birthday to Natalie Cox on Jan. 22.
