Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Bauman Murray passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025 in Marble Falls surrounded by her four children and the loving staff of Arbor House Evergreen Memory Care and Enhabit Hospice. A family graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Restland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church in Gatesville on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11:30 a.m.

Betty was born on Oct. 3, 1934 to E. Price Bauman and Martha Ellen Cayce Bauman in Gatesville. She graduated from Gatesville High School and attended Baylor University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Murray Jr., on June 9, 1956 at First Baptist Church in Gatesville. While Clarence worked in the oil industry and concrete mix business, they made their home in Midland, where they raised their family. Betty was the epitome of a true homemaker: She sewed, did needlework, and cooked for family, friends, and anyone who needed a good meal. She made everyone feel special and welcomed. She had a humble and sweet spirit- always willing to serve. She drove Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the Baptist Crisis Center, loved her bunco friends and Sunday School ladies at Crestview Baptist Church where she was a long-time member.

Betty especially loved her husband of 60 years, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughter Kathy Harrison and husband, Jim, of Horseshoe Bay; daughter, Becky McCraney and husband, Mark, of Belton; son, Tim Murray and wife, Angela, of Amarillo; and daughter, Jennifer Sharrick and husband, Paul, of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Murray, Jr.; her parents, Price and Martha Bauman; her sister, Phyllis Bauman Dunham, and grandson, Dillon Murray.
