Businesses and governmental offices across Coryell County will join the rest of the nation on Monday, Feb. 17 in celebrating Presidents’ Day.
Presidents’ Day was originally established as a national holiday in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington. The federal holiday is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all United States presidents, both past and present.
GOVERNMENT
The City of Gatesville, City of Oglesby, City of Evant, Coryell County Courthouse, and the Farm Service Agency will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17.
SCHOOLS
Gatesville Independent School District, Jonesboro ISD, and Evant ISD will be closed on Monday. Oglesby ISD will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17 and on Tuesday, Feb. 18 for a staff development day.
The Boys and Girls Club of Gatesville will remain open on Monday.
FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
Extraco Bank, Cadence Bank, Educator’s Credit Union, the First National Bank of Central Texas, and the First National Bank of Gatesville, Evant, and Oglesby will be closed on Monday.
POST OFFICES
All local post offices will be closed on Monday.
SENIOR CENTER
The Gatesville Senior Center will be closed on Monday.
NEWSPAPER
The Gatesville Messenger will remain open on Monday.
