The Gatesville Public Library will host its STARS program for young adults with disabilities over the age of 18 on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The program is led by Karie Bartlett and will be held from 6-7:30 p.m.
When attending the STARS group, members are given the chance to meet others and learn about life skills. With Bartlett having experience in teaching across several disciplines, it gives the members an advantage.
Since the group was established, members have been able to learn about the history of video games, play new video games together, learn about food safety and make pizza, create different types of art pieces, pass out ornaments to local nursing homes during Christmas, and much more.
During the program, it is also encouraged for caretakers and parents to meet and interact.
Team Gatesville’s Head Coach Heidi Clough said, “The STARS program truly makes a difference by promoting inclusion, building friendships with peers, teaching new skills, and increasing self-esteem.”
The temporary location of the Gatesville Public Library is located at the City Hall through the side entrance on 8th Street.
