Kalinda Westbrook has authorized The Gatesville Messenger to announce her candidacy for Gatesville City Council, Council Member Ward 2, Place 6, in the upcoming election.
I support Gatesville and wish to serve the city while promoting continued financial stability. My focus will be on public safety, public infrastructure, parks & recreation facilities, and the efforts to solidify downtown Gatesville’s historic designation. I believe that strengthening these areas will provide a healthy environment for business growth, thereby keeping Gatesville a desirable place to live and raise a family.
My husband and I moved to Gatesville in 1982 and have resided at our current residence since 2002. We raised two sons and have been involved in the schools and city since then.
I began working in the accounting field in 1981 where most of my career was spent auditing for governmental programs and working in school district finance, retiring as a school district Business Manager in 2021. During that time, I also gained experience with the mechanics of audits, budgets, and grants, with an understanding of the intricacies of governmental accounting. I believe these experiences have given me a unique area of expertise I could bring to the Gatesville City Council.
