Hollingsworth retires after 31 years

Posted

Mike Hollingsworth recently retired as postmaster at the Gatesville Post Office. He first started working with the postal service in 1994 in Waco. “I worked two years in Waco in the plant on the midnight shift and finally got to transfer to Gatesville and I’ve been here since 1996,” he said.

In 2007, he became the postmaster following his father’s tenureship. Hollingsworth said that he doesn’t really have any plans for his retirement. “We have two children in college, and we go back and forth where they are at times.”

Asked if he’ll miss the job, he replied, “I’ll miss the employees, but the job, well, it’s gotten harder over the years.”
