During the March 24 meeting of the Gatesville Independent School District Board of Trustees, Helen Gonzales was honored during Staff Spotlight.
GISD Superintendent Dr. Barrett Pollard had the following to say about Helen:
Tonight, we want to honor long-time 2nd grade teacher and Dazzler sponsor Helen Gonzales. After many years of faithful service as the Dazzler coordinator, Helen has decided to pass the baton so that she can spend more time with her new grandbaby. For years, Helen would do a fantastic job of teaching her 2nd graders and then spend countless hours in the evenings preparing her Dazzlers for football games, pep rallies, and other performances.
Karrie Judd, Principal of Gatesville Elementary, stated, "Helen is a respected leader on our campus and a valuable resource others seek out for advice. She is an exemplary math teacher with an in-depth understanding of her subject matter. Helen is committed to fostering high levels of student learning for all."
Liz Shoaf, Principal of Gatesville High School, explained, "Helen is a fantastic Dazzler coach who has built a strong team culture where everyone feels like they belong. She encourages teamwork and collaboration, and she makes sure everyone is heard. Under her leadership, each Dazzler has not only grown as a dancer, but also as a leader."
For all of these reasons, we want to honor Helen Gonzales.
