A local sixth grade student from Gatesville Independent School District, Erin Petty, was recently invited to sing with the Texas Choral Directors Association (TDCA) Elementary Honor Choir this summer.
After a rigorous audition process, Petty was selected as one of the honorary singers out of 500 fourth through sixth grade students in the State of Texas.
Auditions consisted of submitting three separate audio files, which included Petty’s performance of ‘My Country Tis’ of Thee’ along with singing two different sets of scales.
In July, Petty will travel to San Antonio to sing with the TDCA Honor Choir and give a concert to thousands of music educators across the state.
