Gatesville High School has two performance opportunities that you don't want to miss this week.

First off, if you like, "Whose Line is It Anyway?” hosted by Drew Carey, then you won't want to miss the Gatesville Improv Troupe at the high school auditorium on Saturday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m.

“The Gatesville Improv Troupe is a group of students that have practiced clean-cut comedy every week from September until now," Amanda Cummings, GHS Theatre Director said. "With the co-leadership of Ruth Hamilton, the students have been improving their stage movement, scene building, one-liners, and more in weekly meetings after school."

What started as a summer camp last June has grown into an extracurricular activity that the students thoroughly enjoy, and they are ready to show off a night of improv games and skills that will surely bring a smile to your face.

The performance is free to the public, and the doors will open at 6:15 p.m.

“Come and laugh out loud with us!” Cummings said.

A public performance of “Rabbit Hole,” by David Lindsay-Abaire, will also be given by the Gatesville High School One Act Play team on Friday, March 4, at 6 p.m. in the GHS auditorium. Admission will cost $3 for all audience members, with doors opening at 5:45 p.m.

The show explores a family's journey through grief and loss after the accidental death of their four-year-old son.

The group is also gearing up for the UIL District 23-4A One Act Play competition at China Spring Middle School on Friday, March 7, at 1 p.m., where they will perform the same play.

"These students have been preparing for this competition since mid-November, pushing themselves to fully express the process of moving through grief, and they are ready to share their hard work with their hometown audience," Cummings said.  "I am very proud of them all!"

She expressed that both groups of theatre students would love the chance to share their work that they have put countless time and effort into.

“Please come out and show your support of these stars in the making!" Cummings said.
