GHS Plant Sale deemed a great success

Posted

Despite the downpour of rain last Saturday morning, plant-lovers from all over the community showed up at the Gatesville High School Greenhouse for their annual plant sale.

A wide variety of decorative plants and vegetable plants were available for purchase including Snake Plants, Aloe Vera, herbs, tomatoes, and Cuban Oregano.

The horticulture students are instructed by Santanna Bay, who is the head of the Career and Technical Education team, which is focused on agriculture, horticulture, and science and plant research.

Bay said, “We started growing these plants in September with different plants being in differed stages.”

Bay, who instructs 23 students in her greenhouse operations class, said “We might have one big plant sale each year.” She continued, “The proceeds from the plant sales goes back into our program so that we can buy more seeds, and we can buy different varieties of plants.”
