Last week, Gatesville ISD’s band program received superior ratings for their University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation, which resulted in a Sweepstakes Award for each of the four groups.
This accomplishment marks the 11th straight year of Sweepstakes Awards for Gatesville High School.
Between junior high and high school, Gatesville ISD has four band groups, including the Junior High Honor Band, the Junior High Symphonic Band, the High School Concert Band, and the High School Symphonic Band.
Both junior high bands performed at Lake Belton High School on Monday, March 3, with the symphonic band, led by Assistant Band Director Johanna Reynolds. On Tuesday, March 4 the Honor Band performed under the directon of Alexa Sanchez.
The High School Concert Band played on Wednesday, March 5, under the direction of Assistant Band Director James Corbin Myers at C.H. Yoe High School. The Symphonic Band performed at the same location the very next day under the direction of Head Band Director, Jose Sanchez.
The High School Symphonic Band was also invited to perform a joint concert with the McLennan Community College Wind Ensemble on Monday, March 3.
