A festival and lighting of the “G” event was held on Thursday, Sept. 19 in honor of Homecoming. Gatesville High School seniors had a walk-in entrance with the Fighting Hornet Band, Dazzlers, and cheerleaders as they made their way to the lighting of the “G.” When the “G” was finally lit on fire, seniors were able to run around the fire to celebrate.
On Friday, Sept. 20, Hornet nation and the community celebrated Homecoming with a pep rally at Gatesville High School. The Homecoming court was introduced before the football game that evening along with performances given by the Dazzlers and the cheerleading teams. The National Anthem was performed by Nevin Benning.
That Friday evening, Hornet nation gathered at the homecoming football game against McGregor, where the Hornets won 59-14. During halftime, seniors Mary Trejo and Roman Perez were crowned as the 2024 homecoming king and queen.
