Fort Cavazos to conduct gunnery and live-fire exercises through Feb. 1

Posted

FORT CAVAZOS – The 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team “GREYWOLF,” 1st Cavalry Division will be conducting gunnery and live-fire exercises as part of the Greywolf Crucible and Pegasus Forge from Jan. 22 through Feb. 1.

The exercises will include virtual and live-fire elements to better prepare the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team for an upcoming rotation at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA.

Residents of the greater Fort Cavazos community will notice an increase in artillery noise from the installation during this time as the field artillery units hone their skills day and night to ensure they can provide accurate and lethal fire support to commanders on the battlefield.

Residents can expect to hear night fires between Jan. 26 through Feb. 1.

Thousands of troopers from across Fort Cavazos will participate in this exercise as their culminating event prior to the unit’s departure for their National Training Center rotation in March.
