First Day Hike at Mother Neff State Park

Posted

Visitors can start off the new year on New Year's Day by hiking and exploring the natural beauty of Mother Neff State Park. The duration of the hike will be five hours - between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Come enjoy miles of fun and join us on the trails at Mother Neff. Explore the park at your own pace and learn about the history of the park along the way. They will also have interpretive stations throughout the park sharing about the park's history and natural resources.

Once visitors have completed their hike, they can come back by the visitors’ center and share their experience. They will even have a small memento for your participation and (weather permitting) the Leon River Dutch Oven Gang will be serving up some black-eyed peas for good luck in the coming year (while they last)!

This has been a very popular event for Mother Neff in the past so be sure to reserve your day passes as early as a month in advance. Reservations can be made online or by calling 512-389-8900.

Cost: The program is free, but park entrance fees do apply - $2 per person 13 and older. Children 12 and under are FREE.

Please be sure to bring water, wear sensible shoes, and dress for the weather.

If you have any questions, please contact the park at 254-853-9044.

Mother Neff State Park is located in southeastern Coryell County at 1921 Park Road 14.
