Come out to Pearl's Bookstore and Flea Market event

Posted

Saturday is the day to be in Pearl for the Pearl Bluegrass event and the Pearl Cottage Bookstore and Flea Market Day. That’s right, you heard it here. The bookstore is restarting the Flea Market this Saturday, and it will continue to be held every first Saturday henceforth. This is an opportunity for the folks interested in selling their items to set up a booth around the Gazaway Cabin next to the bookstore for $5. That amount goes to the Community Center fund for upkeep and maintenance of the building. Someone from the bookstore will collect your money. Also, the Bluegrass Kitchen opens at 11 a.m., and their delicious homemade food is available at very reasonable prices. That money also goes toward the building maintenance and upkeep. These vital services help to ensure that the Community Center will be able to be home to not only the Bluegrass event, but also will be in good shape to host various community events. The building can be rented for things such as reunions and other family-type events. Garrett Dickey and Chris Ray can tell you more about that. Just look for them in the Community Center as they are glad to answer your questions. For more information on the Flea Market or Bookstore event, contact Linda Ray at 254-865-9282 or Kay Pruett at 254-965-5864. Now, head on out to Pearl. You will be so glad you did!

There will be a community lunch at the Pearl Community Center on Nov. 10, celebrating Thanksgiving. Mexican food will be served. A church service with Jimmy McPherron will begin at 10:30 a.m., and lunch will follow. Everyone is invited to attend and bring their favorite Mexican food dish.

Hmmm, everyone in Pearl seems to be “being have,” as my grands say. It’s so strange to not have any reports of strange behavior this week. Even Kay and The Cat Whisperer have kept a low profile. Maybe it’s the unusual heat wave or the lack of rain. Maybe we should pray for fall to finally appear and for rain to mend those cracks in the ground, so that our colorful characters feel more like getting out and about and causing at least a small amount of chaos. Seriously, though, do pray for rain as Linda tells me that the cracks in the ground at Pearl Church of Christ are wide enough to swallow up a small child! No good can come from that. In the meantime, let’s thank the good Lord that the size of the cracks may be slightly exaggerated…I hope.
This week’s Bible verse comes from Romans 12:12—Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. NIV.
