Happy Saturday after Thanksgiving everyone! Are you as stuffed as I am? Those leftovers still taste great to me, especially the buttermilk pie. Speaking of pie, there will be lots of delicious pies next week at the Pearl Community Center Bluegrass Kitchen from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Just to remind you of the big events in Pearl next Saturday, I’m running a repeat of what will take place, when to be there, and what you can do when you visit the greatest little community in Texas. Be sure and share this information with family and friends.
The Pearl Cottage Bookstore and Resale Shop is preparing for a big sale on Dec. 7, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. It’s the “Buy What You Want, Pay What You Want by the Box” sale. Linda and Ronald have been working hard all week to gather items for the boxes, and it looks great. Along with the 6,000 gently used books, there are so many wonderful items available that you will have a hard time making up your mind exactly what you need to buy and take home. In fact, with this sale, you really won’t have to make purchase decisions. Just buy it all. Remember, all purchases go toward supporting the store’s local charities. It’s a win/win situation. Be sure to mark this date on your calendar. Invite your friends and family to tag along. You don’t want to deprive them of this big opportunity. You might be able to mark Christmas shopping as “done.”
For just $5, you can set up a flea market-style booth around the cabin at the bookstore on Dec. 7. The $5 fee goes toward the Pearl Community Center operating expenses. The only thing you cannot sell is food items. This is a great opportunity to sell your homemade crafts or other new and used items, especially since this is right before Christmas. Bands wanted! The next Pearl Bluegrass event will be held on Dec. 7. It’s so easy to be able to bring your band and play on the stage. Just put your band’s name on the chalkboard outside the kitchen. That’s it! That’s all you do. Chris and Garrett will be glad to answer questions about playing on the stage, and you can find them somewhere in the Community Center building. The stage show starts at 1 p.m. If you’re interested in jamming, bring your instrument and join any of the jams going on all day in and around the Community Center. Pearl is such a friendly place, and you will love that others who enjoy good music like you will welcome you with open arms. Put it on your calendar. Pearl, Dec. 7, be there. There’s no place like Pearl!
Along with listening to great bands, jamming with other musicians, and shopping at the bookstore, you can grab a delicious lunch and snack items as well. The cash only kitchen provides homemade meals and dessert fare for either “eat in” or “to go.” Also, the kitchen welcomes volunteers to either help in the kitchen or donate homemade foods. All purchases go toward the expenses of operating the Pearl Community Center. Your family and friends will thank you for inviting them to eat with you. Come one, come all to the best little spot in Central Texas. Everyone is welcome!”
By the way, the Bluegrass Kitchen loves it when you donate food and volunteer to help. Remember, all the proceeds go toward paying the Community Center bills. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t run on love alone, and every little bit helps to keep this place up and running for future generations.
