With Halloween upon us, that means that Gatesville’s annual Boozaar is just around the corner as well. The 24th Annual Boozaar will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6 - 8 p.m. on the Coryell County Courthouse Square.
The Boozaar is the community’s annual Halloween festival on the square. For more than 20 years, the Boozaar has provided Gatesville with a safe and free family-friendly Halloween experience.
There is no admission charge, and most treats and attractions are free. There are always vendors selling food and drinks if you choose to take advantage of some of the items that are available.
In the past, around 70 businesses and organizations have participated in handing out candy and providing games for local children.
In 2000, the City of Gatesville, along with local businesses and organizations, came together to provide treat stops and game booths for kids of all ages. Now, a tradition within the community, the Boozaar is the most well-attended event of the year.
Treat stops are businesses located on the square or the Boozaar route that encompasses several blocks around the downtown area. They hand out treats to kids as they make their way around the route.
Treat stations will also be provided, which are businesses and organizations who are not located downtown but set up booths around the square to provide free candy, games, and activities for families. There is no charge to set up a treat station.
Vendors can host a food booth, sell Halloween related items, or charge for a game or activity. To become a vendor, register at https://www.teamsideline.com/.../Gat.../content/33897/BOOZAR.
In addition, there will be a costume contest with categories for all ages with more details to come soon.
