Jeremiah Marwitz and the Evant Elks are 8-1 with two games remaining after Tuesday’s 58-36 win over Lometa. Marwtiz scored 17 points in the win.

Five Hornet signees

Five Gatesville Hornets signed letters of intent on Wednesday’s national signing day. The signees were Zach Mueller (Hardin-Simmons), Wyatt Tackett (Hardin-Simmons), Parker Floyd (Cisco JC), Jay Hitchcock (Hardin-Simmons) and Kyle Stiffl emire (Texas Tech).

New heights

Kyle Stifflemire led the Hornet signees with a scholarship to Texas Tech University to pole vault. His parents are Keith Stifflemire and Kathy Stiffl emire. Stifflemire has a personal best of 16-feet, 2-inches in the pole vault.
