Thoms sisters share competitive edge
Messenger Sports Editor Katrina Thoms and Tasha Thoms have a plan. The plan is to fi nish near the top of the race Saturday when the state’s top cross country runners take on the course at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Rain or shine, the Gatesville duo is going to be prepared.
They’ve put in more than 300 miles in training this fall. It could be a mud bath after all the recent rain. “It doesn’t matter,’’ said Katrina Thoms, a junior making her third trip to state in cross country. “We’re going to get it done.’’ They have shown a lot of dedication, practicing before school and after school. Two weeks ago, they were running the hallways of Gatesville High School because of the rain. They always have each other to make it through the workouts and races.
They are always close by each other. “We push each other, but it’s all a friendly rivalry,’’ Katrina said. Tasha is 14-years-old and Katrina is 16-years-old. Running is their avenue to success.
