Smith lands baseball position
Chase Smith prided himself as a pitcher/first baseman as a player.
The 2006 Gatesville graduate played on teams that helped turn a long dry spell for the Hornets program.
As a junior, the Hornets ended 47 years of missing the playoffs with Smith helping pace the team on the mound and at the plate. As a senior in 2006, the Hornets hit .310 as a team and went on to win a district title in baseball.
Today, Smith takes over the baseball program with hopes of another return to molding winners.
