Eagle sophomore delivers three TDs in physical Jonesboro victory

Jonesboro played one of its best games of the year Friday night in a 50-0 blowout win over the Aquilla Cougars at Pruitt Field in a game shortened by the mercy rule. The Eagles were physical all night, ending the game with 5:52 left in the third quarter when Keith Sanders raced 48 yards for the team’s sixth rushing touchdown of the evening.

Ian Shoaf had an impressive night, including three rushing touchdowns, a pass reception, an interception and four tackles.

Shoaf’s score on a run to the left with just over a minute left in the second quarter, produced the biggest hit of the night when Shoaf barrelled into an Aquilla defender. The impact sent the Aquilla player’s helmet flying and gave the Eagles a 44-0 lead. Aquilla blocked the PAT kick to extend the game into the second half.
