Jonesboro flys past Lometa, 64-14
Jonesboro snapped the ball just four times against Lometa Thursday night and was up 20-0 in their Class 1A, Division I playoff. It was a quick start and thorough domination by the Eagles in their opening playoff game at Hico High School.
They went on to beat the Hornets, 64-14, and advance to the second round. This week the 10-1 Eagles will take their potent offense and hard-hitting defense to Gorman to face off with the Bryson Cowboys (9-2). Bryson won its first round game over Gorman, 47-21. They kickoff at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Gorman High School.
The Eagles, who advanced to the state title game last year, is geared up for a run in the sixman playoffs again. “We really want to get back to state,’’ said defensive end Christian Baker. “We expect to play well. We’re a family and we play for each other.’’
