Hornets take fourth in district

Varsity track athletes turn in fourth-place finishes in boys, girls

The Gatesville girls’ varsity track team scored 81.3 points for fourth at the District 6-4A track meet at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.

Barrett Boyd and Lauren Stuard led the way picking up second place finishes.

Boyd was second in both hurdle events and Stuard was second in the 100 meters at 13.17. Boyd ran a 16.88 in the100 hurdles and a 49.78 in the 300s.

Bethany Penrod was third in the 1600 in a time of 5:48.57. Haelee Bridgewater was fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:04.28. The team of Mia Shafer, Avery Mullins, Sydney Gilbreath and Stuard were fourth in the 4x100 relay with a time of 53.17.

The team of Bridgewater, Lacy Campos, Gilbreath and Mullins ran a 1:53.26 time for fourth in the 4x200 relay.

Other points were provided by the team of Campos, Kyla Hinojosa, Boyd and Bridgewater with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 relay. They ran a 4:27.79 time.
