Morse determined to hit grind to reach higher goals

Jordan Morse matched her season best and took fourth in the Class 4A girls’ pole vault Saturday morning at the state track and field championships at Mike M. Myers Sports Complex on the University of Texas-Austin campus.

“I’m very blessed and thankful to be here,’’ said the Gatesville sophomore athlete after finishing out of the medal standings in the first attempt for a Gatesville girls at state in the pole vault

Taylor’s Anna Cathryn Griffith repeated as the state champion in Class 4A with a winning vault of 13-feet, 3-inches, breaking her own 4A record. She vaulted 13-2 1/2 as a sophomore last year.

“It’s time to work some more,’’ Morse said. “I have to drive to get better.’’
