Hornet girl golfers test Kyle’s Plum Creek course

Senior Kaylan Summers said the Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle will be a much more forgiving course than the Raven Nest Golf Course the team took on at regional.

Summers hopes to close out her career in the race for top medalist when she and the Hornets’ team compete Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14 in Kyle, just south of Austin.

Last year, the girls’ team was 10th among the 12-team fi eld.

At Huntsville the team squeezed in with a thirdplace finish to qualify again. Midlothian Heritage won Region III-4A. Summers shot 10 strokes better the second day and was sixth overall with a two-day score of 91-81—172.

Other Hornets were: Atria Crouch at 91-91—182; McKenna McLaughlin, Gatesville, 101-109—210; Tatum Basham, Gatesville, 113-109—222 and Hailey Luensmann, Gatesville, 136-122—258
