Hornet coach stresses family

New Gatesville girls’ basketball coach from Denver City meets with team

Ryan Ocheskey spent last Friday flying around, doing everything from unloading a U-haul trailer to meeting his new basketball team.

The Denver City native met the Gatesville Hornets girls’ basketball team on Friday. He was impressed with the fi rst impression.

“I don’t really expect you to learn a lot of plays, I want you to learn basketball,’’ Ocheskey said.

He’s a down to earth guy that wants to earn his team’s respect. He wants basketball to be fun. Learn while having fun. Learn to be creative and enjoy the outcome of hard work was his initial message to the team.

Ocheskey, who simply likes to be called coach “O’’ spent the final period of the day, opening up the conversation with the Hornets.
