Heritage overpowers Hornets
Gatesville’s first road trip of the season was fi lled with bumper-to-bumper traffic.
When they arrived in Midlothian, the first game of the Luke Howard era started with a fumble and proceeded to be much worse than a trip through 18-wheelers and on-coming speedy cars from both directions.
Midlothian Heritage came into the game with a No. 5 state-ranking and plenty of players and bulked-up athletes to run through the Hornets for nine touchdowns in a 63-19 opener for the Hornets.
Good news, they probably aren’t going to reschedule the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars any time soon. The Hornets will have to chalk this one up as a learning experience.
Junior Cullen Stone scored four times for the Jaguars and on 14 carries for 141 yards. Heritage quarterback Cade Stambler completed 14 of 17 passes for 250 yards and threw for two touchdowns.
This game started slow for both teams as they traded fumbles on the first two snaps.
