Golfers make switch to Lubbock region

The Gatesville golf team expected to be competing at the Class 4A UIL state meet, May 12. That chance was wiped out by the coronavirus outbreak.

“It’s what woulda, coulda,’’ coach Guy Dean said. “We’re all underclassmen, we can only hope for next year and see how we compete in a new region. Next year we’ll go to the Lubbock region. It’s been kind of an advantage for us going to Raven Nest for all these years. Now we’ll be competing against all new teams.’’

The returning golfers are Evan Washburn, Cameron Hudson, Caleb Washburn, Cooper Smith and Camden Morra.

Last May, Gatesville High golfer Evan Washburn had a downhill 5-footer for his last shot of the season.
