Gatesville fi nds batting stroke

Gatesville softball coach Jaime Villareal is setting the law down with his softball team. If there was any doubt about his expectations, there aren’t now. He’s molding a solid team that proved over the weekend that it can come back when needed. They reeled off four straight wins in the Gatesville Tournament and played six games over two days to fi nd out a little about themselves. “We already have won more games than last year, we’ve got 10 and we’re wanting 10 more,’’ Villareal said. “Twenty wins would be nice.

’’ Villareal is only in his second season at Gatesville and he has shown that he pays attention to detail and he knows his softball. In the six games, the team showed they can hit the ball and they have key leaders. Senior pitcher Chesney Smith is solid with a strong middle infi eld behind her led by shortstop Haley Nichols.
