Fire Ant Tour catches break from heat

Turnout reaches 164 for 25th running of cycling event on rural layout around Gatesville

The 25th Fire Ant Tour went off with 164 riders roaming the country side near Gatesville Saturday morning. It was a warm, but overcast morning in Central Texas for the event.

“It was a nice ride,’’ said Achim Noack, a retired chemical engineer from Germany. “It had some challenges with that hill at the start. It was a good ride. It was my first time in Gatesville. The people that ran it were friendly.’’

Noack said he has been riding in cycling events for 30 years.
