Securing the ball

Cassie Myers secures the basketball in an early season game for the Evant Elks. The Elks basketball teams competed in the Robert Lee Tournament Thursday through Saturday. The girls tip off 6 p.m. Tuesday at Brookesmith. The girls dropped a 39-18 decision to St. Andrews on Tuesday. Emma Martin led the team with 10 of the team’s 18 points. The team has one senior in Myers, one sophomore in Jaz De Los Santos and six freshmen.

Evant girls show improvement

The Evant Elks showed some improvement, but fell to St. Andrews, 39-18, Tuesday on the road. Emma Martin scored 10 points for the Evant Elks in the non-district game. The Elks traveled to the Robert Lee Tournament over the weekend. Against St. Andrews, Caeleigh Burkham had seven rebounds, three steals and two points.
