Evant goes to its power formation near the goal. Ethan Hightower and Colton McCann have been the big-play players for the Elks. Both have sprinter speed and Hightower is a solid runner for the tough yards.

Sack attack

Defensive end Ty Green (14) collects a sack during Friday’s victory for the Eagles over Zephyr. Jonesboro closes the season Friday with a home game with the Evant Elks. The Eagles lead District 15-1A, Division I with a 2-0 record. Evant is 1-1 and Zephyr 1-1. Lometa is 0-2. Last season the Elks knocked off the Eagles in the season finale to earn the No. 1 seed. Both Jonesboro and Evant earned playoff berths last season. Jonesboro can secure the outright title this season with a win Friday.

Jonesboro sets up title match with neighbor Evant coming to Pruitt Field for Friday fi nale

Jonesboro defensive end Ty Green said it’s easy getting ready to play when playing in District 15-1A, Division I.

On Friday, Green applied some relentless pressure and was one of the team’s difference makers in a 59-12 victory over the Zephyr Bulldogs at Zephyr.

The Eagles sit atop the district standings with a 2-0 mark as the only unbeaten in the four-team district.
