Defensive pressure

Vance Jones sticks to Luke Kiser in the Hornets battle with the Bulldogs Tuesday. Jones scored a team-high 17 points for Gatesville. Kiser was a solid ball handler and scored 15 points for the Burnet squad. Burnet improved to 14-8 while the Hornets fell to 12-9. The Hornets faced China Spring Friday and will take on the Connally Cadets on Tuesday.

Hornets fall to state-ranked Burnet in tuneup for District 18-4A play

The Gatesville Hornets couldn’t keep up with the Burnet Bulldogs Tuesday night in the team’s final tuneup for District 18-4A. They lost a close one, 54-50.

Burnet, ranked No. 25 in the state in Class 4A, had some crisp passing and red-hot shooting to start the game.

Burnet jumped to a 9-2 lead to start the game with three straight 3-pointers by Ross Gesenschlag, Jud Rouy and Luke Kiser.
