Area runners lead the way at Hamilton

Gatesville runner Katrina Thoms set the pace early and won the girls varsity division of the Mona Glopp Invitational at Hamilton Wednesday. Gatesville won both girls and boys varsity divisions. Area teams are gearing up for district cross country meets.

Area runners lead the way at Hamilton

Katrina Thoms kept up her dominance with a first-place finish Wednesday at the Mona Glopp Invitational at the Perry Country Club in Hamilton.

The Gatesville senior ran a 13:04 to win the girls’ twomile race to edge Gatesville sophomore Tasha Thoms. Tasha Thoms clocked a 13:23 time to help the Hornets take first in the 10-team field with 34 points.

Both Hornet teams won their respective varsity divisions. The boys had four of the top five finishers led by Luis Macias’ 17:07 in a 3-mile race.
