The year in review highlights are a continuation from the Dec. 28 issue.
The Oakland Raiders of the National Football League started the celebration of their 60th Anniversary at a pre-season game with the Los Angeles Rams in the Oakland Coliseum.
Al Davis and Cotton Davidson, of Gatesville, were honored at that Raiders-Rams game. Ceremonies began when legendary Raiders’ quarterback Davidson, lit the torch in memory of the great Davis.
Davidson was the first Raider’s quarterback to take a snap in the brand new Oakland Coliseum in 1966.
