Virginia Anne Barnard was born on October 29, 1936, to the late Floyd and Lunar Virginia Chandler in Hillsboro.  She grew up and attended school in Blum, graduating high school in 1954.  After graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Waco.  She married Edward Barnard on December 11, 1955.  Together, they made their home in Gatesville.

Virginia was a homemaker and loved to cross stitch and crochet, making baby blankets for many of her family members.  She loved to bake, especially kolaches.  She was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church and was a member of the choir.  In her later years, she and her husband, Edward, enjoyed spending time at the Gatesville Senior Center, oftentimes playing 42 or 84 dominoes.  She and Edward were also avid travelers, visiting almost every state park in Texas.  Virginia never met a stranger and loved spending time visiting with anyone that she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; and daughter, Cathy Bailey.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Vickie Shaeffer and husband, Leslie; Deanna Pauley and husband, Mark; brother, Floyd Chandler; grandchildren, Jessica Greene, Bill Shaeffer, Colette Pauley, Cassandra Brenny, and Stephen Pauley; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Farmer, Stephen Farmer, Lydia Brenny, Derek Brenny II, Wesley Brenny; and lifelong friend, Cathryn Cooper and husband, J.B.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Hillside Medical Lodge for the excellent care and unwavering love provided to Virginia during her stay.
