Ruth Ogden, age 95, of Gatesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Restland Cemetery, with Dr. Lynn Parks officiating.

Johnnie Ruth Ogden was born on March 31, 1928, in Emory, Texas, to the late Charles Alexander Bryant and Neva Lee Davis Bryant.  She eventually moved to Lamesa, where she met William Sevoy Ogden at a church social in Midway and they later married on November 19, 1948. They resided in El Paso, moving to Gatesville in 1951, where they purchased a ranch. Due to drought conditions in Coryell County, they returned to El Paso in 1954 and resided there until moving back to their ranch in 1962. She worked in Gatesville at the Coryell County Tax Assessor Collector Office, A.S.C.S. office and retired from the Farm and Ranch Supply Co-Op as their business manager. Ruth enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, working outdoors and her Eastwood Baptist Church family, where she was a devout member for over 60 years.  Later in life, she and Willie enjoyed traveling with their friends extensively throughout the United States in their travel trailer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Sevoy (Willie) Ogden; infant daughter, Janice Lynn Ogden; only grandchild, Lee Tyler (Ty) Williams and sister, Imogene Riddle.

Ruth is survived by her children, Mike Ogden of Gatesville; daughter, Marsha Williams Creek and husband, Tom of Gatesville; son Mark Ogden and wife, Jeanette of West.  She is also survived by her family’s friend and caregiver, Carmen Gribble.
