Roy Shelburne, 64, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, in Tulia. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Gray, pastor of Tulia Christian Fellowship, officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Roy Lee Shelburne was born on November 20, 1952, in Gatesville to Emil and Freda Shelburne. He grew up in Gatesville and attended schools there. He joined the US Army on September 30, 1970, and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1973. He was a cowboy all his life and also drove a truck, but his passion and love was being a cowboy. He married Shanni Schlickeisen on July 2, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Shanni Shelburne of Tulia; one daughter, Brandie Devine and husband, Robert Perez of Happy; five sons, Roy Dan Shelburne and wife, Deana of Amarillo, William Wayne “Billy” Shelburne and wife, Holly of Amarillo, Phillip Shelburne and wife, Tara of Tulia, James Shelburne and wife, Madison of Tulia and Johnny Shelburne and wife, Ashley of Tulia; one sister, Judy Faubion and husband, Dave of Belton; one brother, Jimmy Shelburne and wife, Melissa of Gatesville; twenty-four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on the way.
