Jack Lam, age 89, of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019, in Belton.
Funeral services will be held today (Saturday), June 8, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kurt Fuessel offi ciating.
Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery.
Jack was born on Aug. 9, 1929, in Harlingen, to the late George Stanley and Ola Blanchard Lam. He grew up in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School. He married Lavell Williams in 1949. They resided in Gatesville and Lubbock for many years until moving back to Gatesville in 1970. He worked in home construction with his father’s and brother’s company, G. S. Lam & Son’s, for his entire career until his retirement in the mid-1980s. He was a member of Mountain Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavell, on March 4, 2015; and a grandson, Curtis Lam, on April 12, 2014.
He is survived by his sons, Gene Lam and wife, Robbie, Stanly Lam and wife, Florine, and Jim Lam and wife, Carla; brother, H. M. Lam; sisters, Cynthia Botkin and husband, Gary, and Jeanette Baize; nine grandchildren, Becky Morgan, Amy McGowan, Sarah Lam, Jeff Lam, David Lam, Jessica Wade, Devon Nye, Chelsea Brown, and Makayla Brown; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
