Glenda Murray April 3, 1935 – August 15, 2022

Glenda Murray, age 87, of Austin, formerly of Gatesville, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, in Austin.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Loyd Hall officiating. Interment followed at Restland Cemetery.

Glenda Roberts Murray was born on April 3, 1935, in Coryell County, to the late Ross and Thelma Vesta Culp Roberts. She attended Gatesville High School where she played the timpani drums and was secretary for the Senior Class of 1955.

While at North Texas State University in Denton, a friend of Glenda’s set her up on a blind date with Max Murray, who was also attending the university and had recently returned from the Navy. Glenda stood him up, but eventually, Max won Glenda’s heart. On March 5, 1955, they married at Max’s mother’s home, Maude Murray, in Denton. She was a member of the Gatesville Church of Christ.

Glenda is survived by her husband; four children, Grayson Nelson, Cameron Hardman, Craig Murray, Heather Mueller; sister, Mary Lou Reed; grandchildren, Eric Nolff, Callie Schmidbauer, Corrine Murray, Katelyn Mueller, Cassandra Murray, Emilee Mueller and Corbin Murray; great-grandchildren, Rowan Schmidbauer and Fallon Schmidbauer.
