Duane Blanchard, age 87, of Round Rock, passed away May 11, 2022. He was born in Gatesville on May 13, 1934. Duane’s career began with the Texas Highway Department in Gatesville and Waco, then he went to work with Ross Anglin and Sons Bridge Construction, which led him and his family to Corpus Christi, Marlin, Temple, Harlingen and eventually to Round Rock, his home since 1971.

Duane met Glen Neans of Conann Homes and Community Engineering, developing numerous subdivisions throughout the Round Rock and Austin areas. Duane also worked with Rabba-Kistner, developing the I-30 Toll Road from Hutto and ending to Del Valle.

Duane is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dianne Hurley Blanchard; daughters, Montine Blanchard, Lori and husband, Larry Harper, Jarrel Blanchard and partner Debbi Almond; sister, Janet and husband, Jake Moore, and family of Gatesville; grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Hanane Blanchard, Sean and wife, Tanya Blanchard, Leigh and husband, Kyle Drabek, Texas Harper and Judith Gonzalez, Jason and Courtney Blanchard; great-grandchildren, Bella Blanchard, Cash and Jax Drabek; brothers-in-law, David and wife, Mande Hurley, Vic and Carolyn Hurley.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Edwin “Tom” and Lorena Gates Blanchard, his sister Joye and brother John Blanchard.

Duane loved being a horsemen and cattlemen. Duane attended Westside Church of Christ with his best friends Glen Neans and Will Stafford (deceased). Among other friends are Marvin Hardin, John Burford and Clyde Krause.
