Charles Bernard Faubion, age 94, slipped away peacefully from our world on May 12, 2022. Charles was born to Celia and Milton Faubion on June 8, 1927, in Hamilton. He was one of nine children born into a family of farmers - they farmed cotton, corn, and livestock. As early as grade school, Charles farmed as well as attended Evant grade school half days. Charles attended and graduated from Evant High School, where he played basketball and football. Charles was always a proud Evant Elk, served on the school board and attended many events over the years. He got into plenty of mischief and explored the vast Texas land around the Lampasas River.

Charles enlisted into the U.S. Merchant Marines in 1944 to defend his country in the Pacific theater of WWII until 1945, then joined the U.S. Army 1946-1948. He was a proud veteran.

After chasing a blue-eyed girl around Evant and convincing her that he would attend all her other dates if she didn't go out with him, Charles married the love of his life, Betty Faubion, on Dec. 30, 1946, while on furlough stuck in an ice storm in Central Texas. Charles and Betty expanded their love and family with daughter Deborah Charlene Faubion in 1955. Their cherished daughter preceded them both in death in 1972. In 1973, Betty and Charles grew their hearts and their family by adopting Marie Jo Faubion (10) and Elvis Ray Faubion (12). Fond memories of ranching, fishing, playing games, cooking and spending time as a family will forever be with us. Charles was a rancher and farmer, owning and working land in Texas and South Dakota, as well as other states.

He owned Faubion Truck Lines from 1970-1988, providing jobs for the Evant community, and also owned nursing homes. His major hobbies included piloting his Bonanza aircraft for both work and pleasure, his Foretravel motorhome and motorhoming adventures, as well as an illustrious golf career that started at age 70 and included a Double Eagle and Hole in One.

Charles is survived by his sister, Gracie (Faubion) Sawyer; children, Marie (Faubion) Knight and Ray Faubion and wife, Brenda Faubion; grandchildren, Christy (Faubion) Vail and her husband, Brent Vail; CJ Faubion and his wife, Madison; Brandon Faubion and his wife, Hailey; and Katie Turner, as well as great-grandchildren Madison Vail, Charles Vail, Jackson Vail, Brock Faubion, Braxton Faubion and Maverick Faubion.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; their daughter, Debbie; mother, Celia; father, Milton; and many beloved Faubion brothers and sisters, as well as many special friends.

Charles was the purest and proudest form of a Texan, a man who loved his country, loved watching sports, playing dominos, poker and cribbage, loved his family and friends, a strong toddy at happy hour, good country music, traveling, golfing and reading. Betty and Charles celebrated 70 wonderful years together and our greatest comfort is knowing they are dancing together in heaven watching over us. Charles would want us all to stop and take in the pretty scenery, especially good Texas ranchland, sip the whiskey, take that trip, chase that dream, always ask the pretty lady to dance to that favorite song and never miss a good happy hour, steak, or fish fry with friends and family.

A gathering of friends and family with lunch and refreshments will be Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr., Georgetown, Texas 78633. A celebration of Charles's life will be later announced, in the fall, that will include a fish fry, fun, fellowship, and stories with friends and family, as well as his military graveside service near Evant. Pallbearers Ray Faubion, Brent Vail, Stanley Stanford, CJ Faubion and Brandon Faubion. Honorary pallbearers will be Christy Vail and Katie Turner.
