Bernice Woodson, age 86, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Funeral services will be at held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Crosby and Brother A. C. Painter officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Bernice Evelyn Woodson was born on June 17, 1935, in the Pidcoke community of Coryell County to the late Elmo and Jewel Pancake Franks. She grew up on Hardbargain Mountain and attended school at Pidcoke and Gatesville. She married Cecil Alvin Woodson on August 17, 1952. Cecil was in the Marines and Army, which took them to many locations where he was stationed, until moving back to Gatesville. She was a good wife, mother and grandmother, staying at home and raising her family. Her husband preceded her in death on October 10, 2019. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Lynn Woodson and a son, Greg Woodson in 2012; grandson, Benjamin Johnson; and son-in-laws, Bobby Johnson and Jerry Ochoa.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Regina Johnson; son, Cecil Woodson and wife, Nancy; daughter-in-law, Kay Woodson; grandchildren, Oliver Johnson and fiancée, Lianne Baldridge, Angela Johnson, Cecil Scotty Woodson and wife, Morgan, Shawn Woodson and wife, Holly, Tara Woodson, Luke Woodson and wife, Rene; and 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her close friends, Rosie Boynton, Pat Painter and Wylanta Latham.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1506 W. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528
