Abe McGinty Jr.
Abe Ernest McGinty Jr., 91, passed away Monday morning, September 11, 2017, peacefully in his home on his beloved Mustang Creek Ranch. He had been ill for some time and had hospice care attending. Abe McGinty was born September 8, 1926, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe Ernest McGinty and Winnifred Lorraine Jones. Abe grew up in Liberty, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in the 1940s. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from September 1944 until June 1946. Abe is survived by his loving wife, Consuelo R. McGinty of Hamilton and his son, Jay McGinty of Waco. Abe was a successful rancher, raising quarter horses and cows on ranches across Texas from Liberty, to Hamilton County, to West Texas around Marfa. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and owned a number of beautiful and successful horses. Arrangements are under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.
