Local man convicted of injury to a child
For the second time in his life, Cory Don Crosby, of Gatesville, has been convicted of injuring a child.
On Wednesday, a Coryell County jury found Crosby, 34, guilty of injury of a child. The third degree felony was enhanced to a second degree felony due to a previous conviction in 2003 for injury to a child. Members of the Gatesville City Council considered a wide range of options Tuesday before approving a proposed tax rate on a split vote. City Manager Bill Parry presented the proposed budget during a workshop at Tuesday’s meeting, which is based on the current tax rate of 46 cents per $100 valuation. The same jury then sentenced Crosby to the maximum of 20 years in prison and also assessed a $5,000 fine.
