Volunteers gather for a final farewell to a couple of special restored trucks
This is a Memorial Day story, a story of a fallen member of the Armed Forces. It is also a story of how a group of individuals came together to provide a very special tribute to the fallen service member’s family. The persons who played a role in our story had not met as a group. It was a case of one person knowing another who in turn knew someone else or as our headline states “it’s all about connecting the dots.”
Our story begins at about 11:40 a.m. October 4th 2017, when the U.S. Army’s Operational Detachment Alpha Team 3212, of the 3rd Special Forces Group, also known as “Team Ouallam,” had just left the village of Tongo Tongo in Niger, Africa near the Mali border.
